After two years of preparation and a comprehensive six month refit of Sete Mares, a 60 foot cruising Aluminium catamaran, departing Fort Lauderdale Florida for a one year 10,000 mile cruise. Sailed through the Bahamas, along the South coast of Cuba and down to the Cayman Island to the Panama Canal and San Blas Islands in Panama. After a month touring the San Blas Island Sete Mares transits the Panama Canal and sailed to the Galapagos. From there, she made the big jump across the “pond”, a 3,000 mile passage across the Pacific Ocean to the Marquesas. Being the second fastest boat to make the passage; and completing it in under 14 days, all under sail. Cruise from the Marquesas through many of the atols of the Tuamotus before arriving in Tahiti. Spend several months cruising through the exotic Society Islands of French Polynesia, Moorea, Taha, Raitea, Huahine and Bora Bora. Then sailed to one of the most remote and least visited islands in the Pacific: Suvarow in the North Cook Islands. Another passage to the islands of Tonga and then spent two months cruising both the VaVau and Hapai group of Islands. The final leg of the trip was from Tonga to New Zealand with an eight day stop in Minerva Reef. Then spent five months cruising, cleaning and preparing Sete Mares for sale while touring New Zealand before retuning home to Victoria.
